"The Sound of Humility, The Hand of Mercy, And The Voice of Grace "
Mary Lindow
He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To do justly,
and to love kindness and mercy,
and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God
(Micah 6:8)
ALTHOUGH I DO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A FRESH EXPRESSION OF THE HEART OF THE FATHER STIRRING IN THE EARTH,I also see that there is a lot of "bashing" regularly occurring due to the abuse others have exhibited in their places of calling, aimed at those who have been true to what the Lord has asked them to do in His name, and this has caused not just a little sorrow.
WE MUST CLEARLY SEE THAT CORRUPTION CAN RAPIDLY OCCUR IN ANY PERSON OR ANY GROUP, ORGANIZED, RELAXED, OR OTHERWISE, when the tendency to think that they have arrived at a new or deeper revelation about something more so than others who perhaps express the Lord's voice differently.
ARROGANCE IS THE ASSUMPTION THAT I, INDIVIDUALLY, OR SOME GROUP THAT I AM A PART OF, COLLECTIVELY, IS SOMEHOW SUPERIOR TO SOMEONE ELSE OR SOME OTHER GROUP OF PEOPLE.
At the heart of arrogance is self-centeredness. And self-centeredness is the foundation of human sin. I believe any serious attempt at self-examination by an honest person will reveal that we humans are sinful and flawed beyond measure.
MARK TWAIN ONCE SAID:
“MAN IS THE ONLY ANIMAL THAT BLUSHES—
OR [FOR THAT MATTER] NEEDS TO.”
Paul writes, “So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand…Wretched man that I am! Who will save me from this body of death?”
We are consumed by self. And every time we arrogantly place our own needs before others we are enslaved by sin.
WHAT SHOULD WE DO?
HOW SHOULD WE LIVE INSTEAD OF IN THAT ARROGANT MODE?
How about the words of Jesus?
What did he say?
"Everyone who exalts himself (for example, "Aren't I great? Aren't I right?
Don't I always have the best opinion?") will be humbled.
But he who humbles himself (for example, "This is my opinion but it may not be right. I don't have a corner on the market of truth.") will be exalted."
THE LORD IS NOT SPEEDING UP THE DELIVERY OF ANY "FRESH THING" IN THE EARTH IN ORDER TO GET US TO HIS PURPOSES QUICKLY.
No. He is testing the hearts of men and women everywhere, looking for humility, selflessness, and honor, for those who although not perfect, have also served and pointed the way to salvation for many years previously.
THE LORD IS NOT GOING TO HONOR THE INDIVIDUAL WHO SHOUTS THAT CHANGE IS NEEDED OR THAT CHANGE IS COMING AND THEN SLASHES AND BURNS ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T EMBRACE THEIR VERSION OF IT.
THE LORD IS INTERESTED IN THE SOUND OF HUMILITY, THE HAND OF MERCY, AND THE VOICE OF GRACE.
These key character issues attract the pure and simple Presence of the Lord.
Blessed are the PURE in heart...for they shall see God.
Until the Body of Christ that has been through many difficult and shattering events, rids itself of bitter and venomous words against one another and accepts that each one like sheep have gone astray and turned to what pleased them at the moment, there will be little evidence of much harvest .
THE LOST AND CONFUSED WORLD OUT THERE WATCHES CHRISTIANS TEAR EACH OTHER TO SHREDS DAILY AND WONDERS WHY WE ARE ASKING THEM TO JOIN US!
Remember Christ’s two great commandments—love God with all your being and love your neighbor as yourself.
Self-centeredness is the reversal of the great commandment.
Self-centeredness means to place ourselves first, in effect proclaiming our own form of self-government (not needing or wanting the advice or insight of others), therefore our neighbors become an afterthought, and God becomes simply a convenience to be considered only when it’s helpful to us. It is evident even in our language that self-centeredness is woven into the fabric of the human experience.
THE ONE TRUE SACRIFICIAL MODEL TOLD US THAT HE WOULD SEND THE VERY SPIRIT OF GOD IN ORDER TO CONVICT ALL PEOPLE OF SIN, TO COMFORT, TO GUIDE, AND TO SET THEM FREE.
Indeed. The very evidence of a redemptive type of life, is in one who washes the feet of his/her brothers and his/her enemies in an act of cleansing the dirt from the road of life off of the pathway to the Truth.
May we truly hear the sound of the unmistakable heartbeat of a redemptive model rising up in clear resounding purity, personal transparency, and in the covering of the multitude of sins by speaking and meditating only on those things that are noble, just, pure, and of a good report.
AS INDIVIDUALS AND AS NATIONS, THE ANTIDOTE TO ARROGANCE AND SELF-CENTEREDNESS IS A HEAVY DOSE OF HUMILITY.
That is ; a profound willingness to recognize the value and respect the dignity of every human life. And, furthermore, a humble heart calls us to seek and serve Christ in ALL persons by giving of ourselves willingly for the welfare of other people.
THE LORD SAYS,
"Do not let a wise man brag about how wise he is.
Do not let a strong man boast about how strong he is.
Do not let a rich person brag about how rich he is.
But here is what the one who brags should boast about.
He should brag that he has understanding and knows me.
I want him to know that I am the Lord.
No matter what I do on earth, I am always kind, fair and right.
And I take delight in that," announces the Lord.

Guidelines to help you identify Cults and False teaching
Guidelines to help you identify Cults and False teaching
Mary Lindow
Dear Believer,
With the world in upheaval wherever we turn and more and more exploitation of the Gospel, It is so very important for all of us to test every spirit to see if it be of Christ. To discern with our eyes wide open, what is truth and what is manipulative or destructive to the life we are to walk in Christ.
2 Peter 2:1
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
The following insights come from a godly and solid believer who has painstakingly taken the time to teach and explain cult-like behaviors and implementations that have crept into the Body of Christ. This is truly a Biblical and balanced approach that is presented.
I encourage you to take the next few moments to read this material completely and to share it with other believers as well. These are valuable insights and truths that every saint needs to grasp and apply.
Hebrews 2:1
We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard,
so that we do not drift away.
In His Shadow,
Mary Lindow

" IDENTIFYING A CULT"
-Jan Groenveld
http://www.caic.org.au/
There has been much confusion about cults and how to 'pickem'.
Some have difficulty identifying a cult because it is not so
easy to identify one that is not even religious. For this
reason, over the years, different definitions of what actually
is a cult have developed to make it easier when you know
little about their beliefs.
The different definitions:
SECULAR DEFINITION
CULT - From the Latin "cultis" which denotes all that is
involved in worship, ritual, emotion, liturgy and attitude.
This definition actually denotes what we call denominations
and sects and would make all religious movements a cult.
CHRISTIAN DEFINITION
CULT - Any group which deviates from Biblical, orthodox,
historical Christianity. e.i. They deny the Deity of Christ;
His physical resurrection; His personal and physical return to
earth and salvation by FAITH alone.
This definition only covers those groups which are cults
within the Christian religion. It does not cover cults within
other world religions such as Islam and Hinduism. Nor does it
cover Psychological, Commercial or Educational cults which do
not recognize the Bible as a source of reality.
UNIVERSAL DEFINITION
CULT - Any group which has a pyramid type authoritarian
leadership structure with all teaching and guidance coming
from the person/persons at the top. The group will claim to be
the only way to God; Nirvana; Paradise; Ultimate Reality; Full
Potential, Way to Happiness etc, and will use thought reform
or mind control techniques to gain control and keep their
members.
This definition covers cults within all major world
religions, along with those cults which have no OBVIOUS
religious base such as commercial, educational and
psychological cults. Others may define these a little
differently, but this is the simplest to work from.
THE 'ORTHODOX BIBLE-BASED CULT'
A group is called a cult because of their behavior - not
their doctrines. Doctrine is an issue in the area of
Apologetics and Heresy. Most religious cults do teach what the
Christian church would declare to be heresy but some do not.
Some cults teach the basics of the Christian faith but have
behavioral patterns that are abusive, controlling and cultic.
This occurs in both Non-Charismatic and Charismatic churches.
These groups teach the central doctrines of the Christian
faith and then add the extra authority of leadership or
someone's particular writings. They centre around the
interpretations of the leadership and submissive and
unquestioning acceptance of these is essential to be a member
of good standing. This acceptance includes what we consider
non-essential doctrines e.i. not salvation issues (such as
the Person and Work of Christ.) The key is that they will be
using mind control or undue influence on their members.
An excellent book on this subject is "Churches that Abuse" by
Dr Ronald Enroth.
Using these guidelines of definition, Bible-based,
Psychological, Educational and Commercial aberrations can
easily be identified.
OTHER IDENTIFICATION MARKS
(a) The group will have an ELITIST view of itself in relation to
others, and a UNIQUE CAUSE. e.i. THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES RIGHT -
everyone else is wrong. THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES DOING GOD'S WILL -
everyone else is in apostasy.
(b) They will promote their cause actively, and in doing so, abuse
God-given personal rights and freedoms. This abuse can be
THEOLOGICAL, SPIRITUAL, SOCIAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL.
HOW THEY DO THIS
1. Their leader/s may claim a special, exclusive ministry, revelation or
position of authority given by God.
2. They believe they are the only true church and take a critical stance
regarding the Christian church while at the same time praising and
exalting their own group, leader/s and work.
3. They use intimidation or psychological manipulation to keep members
loyal to their ranks. This could be in the form of threats of dire
calamity sent by God if they leave; certain death at Armageddon;
being shunned by their family and friends etc. This is a vital
part of the mind control process.
4. Members will be expected to give substantial financial support to
the group. This could be compulsory tithing (which is checked);
signing over all their property on entering the group; coercive
methods of instilling guilt on those who have not contributed;
selling magazines, flowers or other goods for the group as part of
their "ministry".
At the same time bible-based cults may ridicule churches that take
up free-will offerings by passing collection plates and/or sell
literature and tapes. They usually brag that they don't do this. This
gives outsiders the intimation that they are not interested in money.
5. There will be great emphasis on loyalty to the group and its
teachings. The lives of members will be totally absorbed into the
group's activities. They will have little or no time to think for
themselves because of physical and emotional exhaustion. This is
also a vital part of the mind control process.
6. There will be total control over almost all aspects of the private
lives of members. This control can be direct through communal
living, or constant and repetitious teaching on "how to be a true
Christian" or "being obedient to leadership". Members will look to
their leaders for guidance in everything they do.
7. Bible-based cults may proclaim they have no clergy/laity
distinction and no paid ministry class - that they are all equal.
8. Any dissent or questioning of the group's teachings is discouraged.
Criticism in any form is seen as rebellion. There will be an
emphasis on authority, unquestioning obedience and submission.
This is vigilantly maintained.
9. Members are required to demonstrate their loyalty to the group in
some way. This could be in the form of "dobbing" on fellow members
(including family) under the guise of looking out for their
"spiritual welfare".
They may be required to deliberately lie (heavenly deception) or
give up their lives by refusing some form of medical treatment.
10. Attempts to leave or reveal embarrassing facts about the group may
be met with threats. Some may have taken oaths of loyalty that
involve their lives or have signed a "covenant" and feel threatened by
this.
Refugees of the group are usually faced with confrontations by
other members with coercion to get them to return to the
group.
SOME ABUSES OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS:-
1. ABUSE OF INDIVIDUALITY
They adopt a "groupness" mentality. They are not permitted to
think for themselves apart from the group and only accept what
they are told.
2. ABUSE OF INTIMACY
Relationships with friends, relatives, spouses, children,
parents etc are broken or seriously hampered.
3. ABUSE OF FINANCES
Pressure to give all you can to the group. In non-communal
groups, members usually live at the lower socio-economic strata,
not because of a lower income level, but because they are always
giving money to the group for some reason.
4. "US VERSUS THEM" MENTALITY
Isolation from the community in general. Anyone and
everything outside the group is seen as "of the devil" or
"unenlightened" etc. Their enemies now include former friends;
the Christian church; governments; education systems; the media
- the world in general. Those who are involved with these in any
way see such involvement as a "means to an end".
5. ABUSE OF TIME AND ENERGY
The group controls and uses almost all the members time and
energy in group activities. They are usually in a constant
state of mental and physical exhaustion.
6. ABUSE OF FREE WILL
They must unquestioning submit to the groups teachings and
directions and their own free will is broken. Their "will"
actually becomes the groups "will" without their realizing it.
This is done either by coercive methods including low protein diets
and lack of sleep, or over a period of time through
intimidation. Both methods make heavy use of "guilt".
RESULTS OF THIS ABUSE
1. PERSONALITY CHANGES
Relatives will say they no longer recognize the person.
From a warm, loving personality will come heaped abuse, rejection and
feelings of hate. The cult member sees himself as "righteous" in
comparison and this comes across in their attitude toward all outsiders.
2. LOSS OF IDENTITY
They cannot see themselves as individuals apart from the group.
Some even change their name as a rejection of their former life.
3. PARANOID - WE ARE BEING PERSECUTED
Any time you say anything negative about the group, whether
justified or no, it is regarded as "persecution". Any criticism of
the individual is also seen as persecution only because they are the
"true Christian" or "enlightened" one - not because they, as an
individual, have done the wrong thing. However, at the same time they
will feel free to criticize whatever you believe, say and do because
they are "the only ones who are right".
4. SOCIAL DISORIENTATION
They lose their ability to socialize outside the group. This can
go so far as to not being able to structure their time or make simple
decisions for themselves when they leave.
Their world-view alters and they perceive the world through their
leaders eyes. They become very naive about life in general.
5. SEVERE GUILT COMPLEXES
They are made to feel guilty of everything they did before entering
the group and are to strive to be "good" and "worthy" for "eternal
life". Misdemeanors are made into "mountains" so that members are in a
constant state of guilt for infringing even the most minor rules. Guilt
comes because they aren't doing enough; entertaining doubts or
questions; even thinking rationally for oneself.
This guilt is piled upon pile with new rules constantly
being laid down about what is sinful and what is not. Illness may be
seen as lack of faith - more guilt. Emotional illness may be seen as
proof of sin in your life - more guilt.
SUMMARY
Not all these points will be found in every cult, but
all cults will have some if not most of them, although these may vary to
some degree.

“Longing for Freshness in Spiritual things”
ARE YOU LONGING FOR?
Freshness in spiritual things from the throne of Grace?
ARE YOU IN A PLACE WHERE?
You will risk laying down what might cost you your past history and
which will create a new and fresh beginning in the walk of the saint on
earth?
ARE YOU ASKING THE QUESTION?
"Why is it that the Lord in this seems to be taking longer to fulfill
His Promises of so many heart's desires of those now crying out?"
THE FATHER IS LOOKING ACROSS THE LAND
for those who are not creating agendas and programs to attempt to have
an "edge" during this long season of transitioning.
He is allowing the breaking and "coming to the end of ones' self" to
continue.
Few have stepped over the line into the abandonment He desires from
those who claim that their lives are for His use. The Lord is not
requiring acts of greatness and weighty gatherings to bring glory to His
plans.
THE LORD SAYS THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO DESIRE TO HEAR:
"The sacrifice I want is a broken spirit.
A broken and repentant heart,
This my bride, I will not despise.
(Psalm 51:17)
"IT IS NOT ABOUT THE END RESULT…
It is about the obedience to do the simple, at times mundane acts of
silencing your fleshly need for action and comfort."
"Are you pressed in on every side child? Are you seeing that no one
will hear you cry for love, support, comfort and kindness?"
Their insults have broken my heart,
and I am in despair.
If only one person would show some pity;
If only one would turn and comfort me."
(Psalm 69:20)
"Realize that only I, God, can be the full and well-trusted Redeemer and
Rescuer in your situation right now!"
"I your Lord am testing each heart that calls me Master and I am
allowing a Divine dissatisfaction and holy irritation to stir up all
hearts until they begin to wail out loud,
"Father! Why am I not filled with the peace and delight I need?
Why are you not hearing and answering me?"
"My reply to you child is quite plain:
I have said these words and have spoken them to you each in the way I
know you will hear me." Sometimes I am silent until you become
silent enough for ME to speak into your situation."
"Have you repented of shutting out my voice when I have commanded you to
give from the treasures you now possess? It could be tangible worldly
goods you could give to share as a release for another to be
filled with awe at the goodness of my hand of blessing.
It could be that you know of those now suffering for having stood for
truth and having paid an enormous earthly price, need your heart to
be a good Samaritan, one who will assist and bring rest and healing
and support until they find their way again."
IS THE LORD SHOWING YOU YOUR TENDENCY
TO BE TIGHT WITH GENEROUS HEART RELEASING GIVING?
Not just in "monetary" love gifts. No! In your times of patient
listening to those in anguish. In your time of prayer, in your sharing
of simple treasures from fresh garden flowers, produce,
extra clothing. Generous living and giving of all we have surplus of!
And…often, in the form of a sacrificial offering to the Lord as an
indicator that "things" or possessiveness do not own us!
BELIEVERS SHARE THEIR POSSESSIONS
"All the believers were one in heart and mind.
No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own,
But they shared everything they had."
Acts 4:32
THE LORD IS BREAKING YOU AND I!
If you wonder why there is such a limited level of joy and rest in your
heart, It is because until you must have a heart that is broken,
and repentant for assuming you are allowed to call the shots
in your decision making in this life…He will not expose you to
His full measure of glory!
WHEN WE OBEY…
…HE WILL RETURN WITH HIS FRESH AND SWEET ANOINTED PRESENCE!
Oh, give me back my joy again!
You have broken me-- now let me rejoice.
Psalm 51:8
MANY WHO ARE NOW UNSEEN,
and yes, beat down, tested, ridiculed, and seemingly forgotten- will
shortly and soon pass through the open door of new beginnings and the
start of a vast Kingdom advance.
Those who choose to hear the Lord's voice telling them to assist and
nurture and support those who have been in the fiery furnaces of
preparation, will be filled with the joy of knowing that they too,
have passed the test of brokenness and repentance.
Those of you who are in the stages of rising from the concealed place
where you have been struggling to grow in wisdom, understanding,
and dying to self-love, it may seem as if you cannot find the foot holds you were once accustomed to.
Don't be fearful. The Lord has placed you in a fresh place of total
dependency upon His Voice, His Direction, and His Purpose.
WALKING WITHOUT THE SHACKLES OF THE PAST
will feel awkward and at times weightless. Your time in the place of
"soulical death" has freed you from the things that weighed you down
in past years.
GOD TRAINS HIS SONS
Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,
Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily
entangles, And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Hebrews 12:1
INCREASE IN ENCOURAGEMENT!
What does it cost you to share encouraging words and a time of prayer
with one who is momentarily suffering weakness, heartache, or despair?
It costs you time.
But when you do this, it increases a bond of unity among the Family of
God whom you and I are saved into through Jesus, who was the
ultimate encourager!
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement
Give you a spirit of unity among yourselves
As you follow Christ Jesus,
Romans 15:5
HOLD ON TO HOPE AND FAITH!
Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the LORD.
Psalm 31:24
And hope does not disappoint us,
because God has poured out his love
into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
Romans 5:5
THE LORD OF PROMISE AND COMPASSION IS COMING NEAR TO YOU…
…WITH HEALING IN HIS WINGS!
He heals the brokenhearted,
Binding up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3
He himself will bind up everything broken in your heart, your dreams,
and your reputation, with his own hand, and he will restore your joy.
